Our Mission
OvaryIt exists to close the gender health gap by making women's health research accessible, actionable, and patient-centered. Every piece of content on this platform is created with that mission in mind.
Who Writes Our Content
OvaryIt content is researched and written by Mary Kucek, Founder & CEO of OvaryIt. Mary has a background in biology and technology, serves as Principal Investigator for an NIH-funded clinical trial, and is a patient advocate dedicated to improving health literacy and outcomes for women.
Medical Review Process
All health education content published on OvaryIt is reviewed by Lissette Logan, PharmD, a licensed Doctor of Pharmacy. Dr. Logan reviews content for clinical accuracy, appropriate context, and alignment with current evidence-based guidelines before publication.
This review process applies to:
- All Learn topic deep-dives (anatomy, conditions, contraception, and more)
- FAQ answers and myth-vs-fact content
- The Contraception Eligibility Screener logic and results
- Resource descriptions and health-related guidance
Our Sourcing Standards
We source our content from peer-reviewed medical literature, government health agencies, and established medical organizations. Primary sources include:
- PubMed / National Library of Medicine — peer-reviewed research articles
- CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) — clinical guidelines including the U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for contraceptive use
- ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) — practice bulletins and patient education materials
- WHO (World Health Organization) — global health guidelines and data
- NIH (National Institutes of Health) — research findings and health information
Every Learn topic includes a Sources & References section with direct links to the original research. We do not cite secondary blog posts or unverified sources as primary references.
Readability & Accessibility
All educational content is written at a grade 7–8 reading level (Flesch-Kincaid) so that health information is understandable regardless of medical background. Key terms are defined in plain language in each topic's glossary.
Content Updates
Medical knowledge evolves. We review and update our content periodically to reflect new research, updated clinical guidelines, and community feedback. When content is materially updated, the publication date on the topic page is revised accordingly.
